Why I left the circus and started writing code again
It doesn't have to be this crazy.

Hi. I'm Jake.
Twenty years ago I started writing code because I loved it. Now? I'm watching it get buried under pointless tech and even crazier decisions.
I've seen councils burn fortunes on apps nobody asked for (£120k for an app that would take an afternoon?). Fintech startups gamble on blockchain like it's free. One company even told me to build a Shopify plugin. 'Just because.' I asked who wanted it. They shrugged. Took me six weeks and still nobody cares.
Meetings that could've been emails. Managers who know what users want... but don't actually ask them. And AI? We're sprinkling machine learning on login screens these days. Because remembering a password is the real bottleneck.
Look, I'm done. From now on I'm building what matters - fast, honest software for people who'd rather use it than talk about it. If you've ever shipped something beautiful only to have it die in committee... let's chat.
